Reading: This week we are reviewing character traits in small groups with me. We are practicing rereading and using evidence from stories to support our answers. We will be doing a short online quiz covering vocab and recounting fables.
Writing: This week in writing will be practicing writing persuasive paragraphs using the OREO format. We will be using the research we found last week on cats and dogs to make our own opinons on which would be better pets. We will state our opinions with reasons and examples to try and convince others to agree with our opinion.
Science/Social Studies: This week we are focusing on the three types of matter. We are doing a sort of characteristics of matter to decide if it is characteristic of a liquid, solid, or gas. In social studies we are looking at local government and deciding responsibilities and jobs associated with it.
Grammar: We will be reviewing verbs and practicing capitalization in titles and names.
Ways to practice at home:
1. Go on a matter scavenger hunt. Make a list of solids, gasses, and liquids around your house. Which do you see the most of? Which do you see the least of? Why?
2. Make a list of rules you have at home. Are these rules for your safety or out of respect for others?
3. Make a character trait web for a character in a chapter book you are reading at home. Put the character's name in the middle of the web and character traits that describe him/her around it. Make sure to use evidence from the story to support the character trait you chose.
